Often we overlook basic things and go gunning for more complex solutions. Today we will see how to solve stuck Windows Updates. But what if your PC is not updating to it.
It’s the first major update since 10’s release and brings a plethora of new features. But updates are important, like the recently released 1511 update, dubbed Threshold 2, in November 2015. This change has also caused a lot of furor, with Microsoft forcing these updates on Home edition users, being the main cause. Some updates will be big while others will be small. One of the major things of WaaS is that there will be continuous updates released by Microsoft bringing new features and bug fixes. WaaS has its own pros and cons, but we are not going into that. If even that doesn't work, you can use the Media Creation Tool to download the latest release of Windows 10, Create an Installation USB, and update Windows 10 from there.With the advent of Windows 10, Microsoft is switching to “Windows as a Service” (Waas) model, ditching the old number/version based system. If Windows can't update online, you can try Downloading the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool, and then try updating Windows using it. Yes, my update service is running and I cleared the folder. If that doesn't help, you can Boot Windows in Safe Mode, go to the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder, delete all the contents from the folder, restart PC in Normal Mode and then try checking for updates. Please make sure to double-click the service and confirm if it's status is Running and its Startup type is set to Automatic. You can do so by typing SERVICES.MSC in the Cortana search box, opening the Services snap-in and checking the Windows Update service from there. Can you please check and confirm if the Windows Update service is Running?
